The iClick Swûrv5 : The Swiss Army Knife of MP3 players

By Carol Finch

If you’re looking for a neat little MP3 player with some useful added extras then the iClick Swûrv5 might just be the digital product that you fall in love with. The player can store MP3, WMA and WAV files and comes in 4 sizes (128MB, 256 MB, 512MB, 1GB).

But there’s more to this player than just digital music storage. You can also use the iClick as an FM radio, a radio recorder, voice recorder or as a flash drive.

The player itself is tiny, but can hold up to 34 hours of music. It was specially created to interface with the Windows Media Player, software you’ll probably already have on your PC. This could make managing your downloads and music storage a whole lot easier than having to deal with a new software package; this could be a real plus point.

Despite the iClick’s small size there’s a lot to play with here. The player has repeat functions, a 6 band music genre equalizer, 5 speed rates and a shuffle function. Standard accessories include:

  • Cable Case
  • Headphones
  • CD ROM
  • Manual
  • USB Cable
  • AAA Battery

These players range in price from $74-194, the company sells its electronics products direct through Amazon, always a good place to begin a price comparison search.

Pros:

  • Functions - The mix of digital audio, radio, recording and flash drive uses make this model stand out.

  • Windows Media Player - Its compatibility with the WMA suite may make your music storage/downloading much easier.

  • Battery - Unlike many MP3 audio devices this model works with standard AAA batteries, and it manages to get 11 hours use out of one battery!

  • Support - If you buy one of these models you’ll get free lifetime technical support and compatibility for future formats and features upgrades.

  • Size/Design - This is a compact and attractive product that you really can take anywhere.

Cons:

  • Storage Capacity - If you have a large music collection or want to store loads of downloads then you may find the capacity isn’t big enough for you.

  • Headphones - The headphones in the box may not be high quality enough to suit some people.

  • Button Use - The button functionality may not suit all users, you’ll have to get used to short/long press combinations to navigate/do what you want.

Usage Tips and Tricks

An added bonus with the flash drive element of this player is the fact that you can protect your privacy by encrypting parts of the data you store on it. To do this you can divide your flash memory into two specific sections, one will then be encrypted so your files will be hidden from public view.

So, if someone uses your player or you lose it then at least you know that confidential data will stay that way.
