The Nike MP3 Sport PSA200 : Music on the move for athletes

By Carol Finch

The Nike MP3 Sport PSA200 portable digital music player was designed for athletes and sports lovers who like to take their music with them wherever they go and whatever they do. Designed by sports giant Nike and technology giant Philips these players really do meet the needs of both music lovers and people that love sports.

The Nike MP3 Sport PSA200 player comes with 128MB of memory which will give you an average of 4 hours of WMA tracks and 2 hours of MP3. This player does not however support music that you may have purchased from online music stores.

The main benefit with this product is that you can do whatever you enjoy, like go jogging, run a marathon or do any kind of extreme sport, and your music won’t skip. You also won’t notice any loss of audio quality - this player really has been designed for active use. And the player comes with "no-look" buttons so you can concentrate on what you’re doing and still manage your music listening. Just 1 standard AAA alkaline battery will give you up to 10 hours of play back with the PSA200.

This is an easy MP3 player to navigate and control. The backlit LCD display makes sure you can see what you’re doing but the player is small enough to be completely unobtrusive. You can even customize your listening experience with a custom equalizer or there are 4 built-in presets if you prefer.

The player comes with a USB plug for rapid transfers. You’ll also get a copy of the Music Match software suite in the box which will make it easy to manage your audio files and transfers from your PC.

Standard accessories include:

  • Sport Headphones
  • Armband
  • Battery
  • Software

You can also purchase accessories for this player including flight headphones, a sports pack and a USB cable. If you do a little comparison shopping on the Internet you’ll be able to pick up a Nike MP3 Sport PSA200 for around $70.

Cons:

  • Online Music - This player is not compatible with tracks you might buy from online music stores so you’ll be restricted here in terms of the tracks you can load on to the player.

  • USB - the player doesn’t come with a USB cable as most MP3 players do – you’ll have to buy one separately.

  • Storage - If you want to carry a lot of music round with you then this player probably won’t be big enough for you.
