FTC Closes Fake iTunes Reviews Case -- Will it Make a Difference?

PC World - Online product reviews have always been a little sketchy; you never know who actually writes them, whether there's a hidden incentive, or if it's a company shill in disguise. But now that the FTC has cracked down on phony iTunes reviews pushed out by companies who make or market the products, will these shameless self-promotions cease? Or is this just posturing on the FTC's part?

The new band Otafuku Rex has debuted their music video, Do Me, I'm the Best, and is inviting fans to get in on the action and create their own remixes by mashing up the groups video and music, adding in their own music and video, and sending the results to friends.
Apple sets music event for Sept. 1

Investor's Business Daily - Apple (NMS:AAPL) didn't disclose the information about the event, but a guitar featured in press invitations raised expectations that the company will unveil revamped iPod digital media players. Some believe Apple will launch an iPod Touch with sharper screen and front- and rear-facing cameras. A revamped TV device may also be in the works.

New Digital Music Service Lets You Buy Songs on Your Radio UK-based DAB digital radio maker, PURE, has launched its FlowSongs service that enables consumers to buy songs directly from their radio. Owners of a PURE radio that supports Flow technology (Oasis Flow, Siesta Flow, Vanti Flow, Evoke Flow or Sensia radios) will now be able to, not only identify the songs they are listening to, but also purchase them with the click of a button.

The site reports that the Google tablet will sport the company's Chrome OS and launch on Verizon on Nov. 26. That would be Black Friday for early holiday shoppers.
