Study: Kindle Can't Replace Textbooks Quite Yet One would think young (well, mostly young) college students would be hip to new devices such as eReaders. But a new study that used Amazon's Kindle finds that while 90 percent of students liked the device for personal reading, up to 80 percent said they would not recommend it for studying. No word on whether those 80 percent told the folks who did the study to get off their lawns.
HMV Canada Launches Digital Music Store HMV Canada has now officially launched its answer to Apple's iTunes Store. Until now, the company had been trialling the service as a Beta model for the past seven months with the help of customers. The President of HMV Canada, Humphrey Kadaner, said, "As expectations for an hmv digital offering were high, we wanted to allow ourselves time to enhance the service by evaluating consumer interest and wants. This was all in preparation for the development of a digital service that would exceed customer expectations. Thanks to the extensive testing and consumer feedback we've received to date, we are confident that hmvdigital.ca is a digital offering that will impress consumers and, ultimately, bring them closer to the music they love."
New Study Analyzes Consumers' Digital Music Listening Habits According to an article by MusicWeek, a new report by Forrester Research has found that the way consumers use digital music is still a very fragmented affair. The new study entitled, 360-Degree Music Experiences: Use The Cloud To Target Device-Use Orbits, has shown in particular that the majority of digital music listeners are still shackled to their computer due to "limitations of available technology". The study found that the majority of consumers (35.9%) mainly listen to MP3s and physical CDs on their computer (PC).
