HP Files Trademark for PalmPad Name

Ooh, what do we have here?

It looks like HP's WebOS-powered tablet is starting to take form as Hewlett-Packard just filed a trademark for the PalmPad name.

Now I don't know about you, but the use of the word "Pad" in the name sounds like a dead giveaway to what kind of device HP plans to compete against — and I don't mean the Lenovo IdeaPad. In fact, the use of the WebOS interface, which powers Palm's smartphone line, pretty much indicates that the PalmPad will be positioned against Apple's popular iPad. After all, the iPad's iOS interface used to be called the iPhone OS.

New Study Analyzes Consumers' Digital Music Listening Habits

According to an article by MusicWeek, a new report by Forrester Research has found that the way consumers use digital music is still a very fragmented affair. The new study entitled, 360-Degree Music Experiences: Use The Cloud To Target Device-Use Orbits, has shown in particular that the majority of digital music listeners are still shackled to their computer due to "limitations of available technology". The study found that the majority of consumers (35.9%) mainly listen to MP3s and physical CDs on their computer (PC).

Seagate Announces New 3TB Drive Can Store "Countless Hours" of Digital Music

According to a press release from Seagate, the company has just broken all storage records by releasing the world's first 3 Terabyte external hard drive. Seagate says that their new 3TB drive is capable of storing "countless hours" of digital music, or if you prefer: 120 HD movies, 1,500 video games, or thousands of photos.

Study: Kindle Can't Replace Textbooks Quite Yet

One would think young (well, mostly young) college students would be hip to new devices such as eReaders. But a new study that used Amazon's Kindle finds that while 90 percent of students liked the device for personal reading, up to 80 percent said they would not recommend it for studying. No word on whether those 80 percent told the folks who did the study to get off their lawns.
