PC World - Toshiba and SanDisk announced on Wednesday a new joint venture agreement for an advanced NAND flash memory chip factory in Yokkaichi, Japan, meant to keep ahead of burgeoning demand for the NAND flash chips to store songs, photos and other digital data.

HP Files Trademark for PalmPad Name

Ooh, what do we have here?

It looks like HP's WebOS-powered tablet is starting to take form as Hewlett-Packard just filed a trademark for the PalmPad name.

Now I don't know about you, but the use of the word "Pad" in the name sounds like a dead giveaway to what kind of device HP plans to compete against -- and I don't mean the Lenovo IdeaPad. In fact, the use of the WebOS interface, which powers Palm's smartphone line, pretty much indicates that the PalmPad will be positioned against Apple's popular iPad. After all, the iPad's iOS interface used to be called the iPhone OS.
