Apple's New Social Music Service 'Pinged' by Spammers Shortly after Apple launched its new iTunes Ping service on Sept. 1, it soon succumb to a barrage of spam from fraudsters. As reported by Mac Rumors, this involved scammers enticing Ping users to fraudulent websites by offering free iPhones and iPads. Scammers quickly created a flood of spam by creating iTunes profiles and posting comments on popular artists' accounts like, U2, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. To make matters worse, these highly popular artists were also promoted on the social music services' homepage.
